2006 Presentation Lunch at Lord’s

Nottinghamshire’s Mark Ealham, who smashed a 45-ball century against MCC at Lord’s on April 16th, won the 2006 Walter Lawrence Trophy.

His whirlwind hundred, scored off just 45 balls, included 11 fours and 7 sixes. It was scored in the traditional opening first-class fixture of the season between the Champion County and MCC, making it the fastest ever hundred from balls faced and non-contrived bowling, in the history of the competition.

Ealham was presented with the Walter Lawrence Trophy and a cheque for £5,000 at a special lunch in the Long Room at Lord’s.

At the lunch, Gharib Nawaz, the first winner of the Walter Lawrence Award for MCC Universities Batsman with the Highest Score of the Season, received a silver medallion and a prize of £1,000.
