2007 Presentation Lunch at Lord’s

Gloucestershire all-rounder Marcus North won the 2007 Walter Lawrence Trophy, with a quickfire 73-ball hundred against Leicestershire at Bristol on May 5. Jon Lewis, the Gloucestershire captain, accepted the
Trophy on behalf of his absent teamate.

North, the 27-year-old left-handed batsman from Western Australia who has also enjoyed spells at Durham and Lancashire, hit 13 fours and a six during the hundred as his side just failed to secure victory in the drawn County Championship match.

The Walter Lawrence Trophy award for the highest-scoring batsman from the six MCC Universities, inaugurated last season, was Durham UCCE’s 19 year-old Laurie Evans, a graduate of the Surrey Academy, who made an unbeaten 133 against Lancashire on April 25.
